"Always a pleasure gentlemen", she raised her ale. "I'm glad to know the names of the men taking my coin", she chuckled.

"No, I suppose I don't." Perceon replied, dancing passably at best. He had learned all the steps, and dutifully memorised them as a younger man, but he did not move with anything approaching inspiration. He allowed Rhaena to subtly lead him, since she was undoubtedly the more skilled on her feet. "It is better to have someone who drives you to excel." Rhaena nodded in agreement as they danced. She noticed he seemed a bit stuffy and uncomfortable. "Why don't you put your hands where you want them? She said. "It will help you to dance better." She adjusted her shoulders so his hands fell a bit. Perceon could be awkward and occasionally overly formal, but he was also a man and was not about to pass up the opportunity to get closer to a beautiful woman when she had invited him to do so. He slid his hands down her back until they rested at a still respectable place above her hips. "You're right." He commented. "I feel much better already." He flashed her a grin as they danced, doing his best to show some kind of improvement in form.

"Well," she said, "please tell the tales of Prince Willem," she begged. "It's been such a dull affair so far and you're our best hope for excitement!" "I fear I shall not add much to the excitement here, if all you want is the tale of my life to date." he said to Miriam with another grin, amused by her coquettishness. "Perhaps I might entertain you more when the tourney begins."

"On her ship, no doubt." He winked at her. Brandon Bolton, a short, violent looking northman, didn't smile but he looked at her. "What sort a'ship is the Survivor?" He asked. "I like ships. Ain't got none but I like'me."

"The perks of being royal." Another man came up to cut in, a common enough practice, but for now she waved him off.

"A story has to be a story after all, and if we have heard of you in the Vale beyond just a title, surely your life isn't...that boring?" Miriam nodded in agreement. "One man spent three minutes talking about a bear pit. You can surely do better."

"I would," she smiled, not letting Viserys bother her, she could find him later, "so, my prince, tell me about yourself? Will you be riding?"

"Riding?" He asked. "Of course. I wield a lance well enough and I can fight," he promised her. "Every Stormlander has to be good with a weapon." He offered his strong arm and nicked a bottle of wine. "Will you be watching?" He asked with a grin.

So much fail in one roll.
She shrugged and gestured for the man she had just brushed off. "I guess we will find out soon enough," she said, as the Dornishman took her hand and winked at the prince.

Accepting that now at least he knew where he stood Perceon responded with a respectful inclination of his head to Rhaena, and beat a hasty retreat back to his spot at the high table without so much as a look at the Dornishman.

As he gets to his seat, Ser Nathyn Ashford looked at him. "You gonna take that for an answer?" He asked in his drawl. Ser Nathyn's lip had been near bitten off in a fight once, and ever since he spoke seldom, with a lisp, but he was a clever and ruthless bastard, a true warrior for the Reach's armies. "You ain't about to impress anyone with your strength," he said, "my prince," he belatedly finished, "so I say ye should go find a beautiful woman here, grab her hand, and tell her she's yours for the night, then leave in front of everyone and go make a royal bastard right here in the center of all bastards." He has a cup of wine in front of him that Percy notices is from the toast hours before, and his breath is clear and untainted by alcohol.

"I thought it best to avoid making us enemies by making off with the daughter of anyone important." Perceon responded. "Unless you are suggesting I have my way with one of the servants, or know of some way to steal a lady's maidenhead without offending anyone, I fail to see how your counsel benefits me, Ser Nathyn."

The knight shook his head. "Who here is truly important?" He asked. "Obviously not the Durrandon girl or the princesses...." he looked about, "but some woman here wants a bit of Gardener gold for a night she won't forget, and you'll look the part," he said. "You make a beautiful girl higher nobles are lusting after yours, and you make them look at you a new way. They are all thinking marriage," he said, "because they need to marry any little cunny they see. You...well, you get to marry the pick of the litter AND take who their eye is on, and they'll respect you for it." He shook his head, "but that's just a dumb knight talking. Right now your scandal is that you don't fight. Make your scandal that you are the cock of the walk."

Alex reentered the hall alone and looked out about the crowd for the Targaryan she'd briefly met earlier. Prince Viserys is sitting with some other men and his sister and some female cousins, and they are winding down for the night, enjoying themselves. He is facing perpendicular to her so she is out of his vision for now.

Perceon considered Ser Nathyn's words. "It seems to me you've given the matter some thought Ser." He commented genially, not affronted by anything that had been said. "But to me it seems two scandals might be worse than one. Sure they'll remember you for the first but they'll still hate you for the second?"

Nathyn shrugged. "I ain't never been in a position to have the luxury of picking my scandals," he slurred. "But the moment you let some inbred princess think she's superior to a true born prince of the Reach is the moment the embers of dignity fade," he pointed out. "Give'em a kick."

The princess looked her up and down and then shrugged and nodded to her brother, apparently passing some private test. Viserys nodded to her and rose. "I'm Prince Viserys Targaryen," he said, "and you are the lovely and formidable...Lady Alyssa Hightower's sister," he said with a grin. She feels some amused eyes on her as he grins devilishly.

"Hmm." Perceon said. "There is some truth to what you have said, Ser. It would be wise to show I can do better than she, and that her choice of another dance partner was her error." He stood up. "Do have a drink on my coin. Or a woman. Whatever you please. I am more than happy to compensate you for the sage counsel." He dropped a gold coin and a few silvers before Ser Nathyn, before making his way off across the hall. But he had only truly accepted some of Ser Nathyn's counsel and instead of making for the first lady who caught his eye, he made for a familiar face in Princess Bethan, provided he could find her. Exchanging the company of one royal for another would be the best way to show his merits, he figured.

"You have met my sister?" She asked, not vowing at the fact he diverted the compliment, everyone thought of her sister first, that was until she met her. "No doubt she went on about books and trade and the might of the Citadel." She said to him, "are you interested in those things?"

The princess and the Stormlands nobles are starting to break down for the night; it is growing late but she smiles as she sees him. "Perceon," she said with a dimpled smile. "I had thought you'd forgotten us." She is quite short, barely over five feet, her hair down to her waist and black as a raven's feathers. "I hope you had fun, dragons are ever so interesting," she noted. It was clear she'd seen him.

"No doubt she went on about books and trade and the might of the Citadel." She said to him, "are you interested in those things?" "Never met her in my life," he said. "But Alexandra Hightower is someone I find more interesting. Women die to men once they find a husband," he admitted. "An honorable man anyway." He winked. "So in my case it is more like they are in a coma of sorts." He could tell she had had some drinks, so he bid her sit. "You can all fuck off now," he told his companions, and his sister rolled her eyes and got up with the cousins. "Do you want some water?" He asked. "Or perhaps a rather more invigorating dance?"

"Is it good manners in Pentos to mock people's dancing?" She teased with a giggle and decided on having a bit more wine, offering some to him, "I am very much alive my prince," she grinned at him.

Perceon replied, smiling back. "The dragon was foisted upon me by my cousin and I thought it best not be rude to her, lest I offend her family. I know it is late in the evening, but can I ask you for a dance, so the night is not completely wasted on being polite to people I have no interest in?" (Charm 75) |HnBqlTO

Roll considerably less a waste of time
Bethan smiled prettily at him and offered her hand. "I had thought you'd never ask," she said sweetly. "I am well aware of being polite for politics' sake," she assured him, her gloved hands going to his back. "But do please get some music that old people don't like playing," she said with a grin.

Perceon took her hand and scanned the massive hall for an idle musician, or someone playing something exciting. "For you, no request is too great." Perceon replied. "Although I hope you will not ask me to take to the lists. My back is still sore from all the occasions I dared challenge my brother's supremacy in the training yard. But I suppose having skilled warriors at your disposal is rather a good problem for a Prince or Princess to have."

She shrugged. "If they listen to you, who cares if you can fight?" She asked. The music is a good tempo and she is plenty agile, letting him be more still as she makes the attention grabbing movements. "I look forward to our ride," she said, "the falcons are eager to be unleashed."
