"I did as well, but duty did not leave me the luxury," he said, somewhat wistfully. "I used to roam the Reach in my saddle as you do the seas aboard your ship."

"Well.... I love the sea",she looks off at the rising sun,"It's the silence. It's the air." Naomi takes in a breath, coming back to the moment.
"Does this make us friends now?"

"An open road and adventure on the horizon were all I needed," he said in earnest.
"Is one common interest all you need for a friendship?"

"No", replying dryly,"I have to trust the other person as well", she looked at him. "It was actually an empty question, really."

"Acquaintances it is then," he quipped, leaning on the fence beside where she sat. "So have you traveled far?"

"As far East as East can go", her answer wasn't flat, it just seemed distant. Naomi rolled up her sleeve,"Have ever seen a tattoo like this?" It was of a symbol, surrounded by smaller symbols, the coloring almost of blood. "Probably not", she chuckled, looking down at her arm.

"I can't say I have seen many tattoos at all," he remarked, studying the design with a curious eye. "What is its significance?"

She sighed with a grin and rolled her sleeve back down,"I don't know.... I awoke with it." Naomi shrugged,"I'm pretty sure my father would have known, but he's with the Drowned God now."

"Well that's alarming," Geralt laughed, bemused. "I have woken up from a night of heavy drinking with a bruise or scrap I do not remember getting, but never a tattoo. Where did you get it?"

"As far east as it goes",she replied. "I don't really remember. I have nightmares of things that people like you wouldn't believe were real", she chuckled, then sighed, "The mind is a fragile thing, it's only meant for so much."
"I can only tell you that the name of my ship is my truth."

He raised an eyebrow at that but left it unremarked, already having assumed most of these Ironborn were half mad.
"And what did you christen your ship that is so fitting?"

Ahh, the righteous Seven Gods she thought. "Yes, I have", she replied matter of factly. "Now Ser, sorry... Your Highness, I have a few things I must attend to." She hopped down,"Nice chat, I enjoyed it."
"I suppose we may run into each other at the feast."

Willem Lannister attended by a small entourage of his closest friends and confidants entered the training yard to make his final preparations for the tourney and melee. He and Jaymes grabbed a pair of blunted training blades and went through a couple of warm up training drills. They took a short break while Willem watched other combatants from the other kingdoms compete against one another.

Geralt watch the Ironborn captain depart, I glint of amusement in his eyes, before noting the arrival of the Lannister crown prince.
"Prince Willem," he said in greeting, making his way over to the western entourage. "In need of a sparring partner?"

"I have enough sparring partners already." replied Willem, eyeing the Knight of the Green Hand. They had never met before today as far as he could remember, but he knew enough about the husband of the lady of Oldtown that the younger Gardener prince was likely to be one of his main opponents in the upcoming contests.
"But if you wish a bout with tourney swords, then by all means." he replied, knowing that the prince most likely wished to test his mettle before the main contests.
"Let's not give away too many secrets though, before we begin entertaining the crowds."

"Indeed, but if you train anywhere near as often as I do, you have tested your blade against every competent sword in your realm so many times it has become boring," he remarked, taking up his training sword and shield once more. "Of course with tourney swords. Vigilance does not need to taste royal blood this day. I just want to make sure you are worth the trouble of seeking out on the field"

Willem gave a wolfish grin, both at the Gardener prince and his entourage.
"I can assure you I'm not worth the trouble." he quipped. "We both will have our hands full with the other combatants. No need to bother with each other until the end-game."
Willem selected a tourney sword and raised his shield. The sun glinted on his golden plate armor, as he closed his helm. For a moment he considered selecting two swords, but decided to adopt a conventional fighting method. No need to overly exert one's self, until the real contests.

"Well better to fight you fresh, at your best, than after the other contestants have worn you down," Geralt replied, competitive spirit on display as he sent his squire to fetch his plate, as he had come in padded training armor. "How are you finding Harrenhal?" he inquired, as the squire returned and began strapping on the breastplate, the Reach knight taking up a shield and training sword as well.

"Well enough." replied Willem. "I haven't had yet had the opportunity to meet all of my fellow royals as yet." He flexed his right wrist, twirling his blade expertly and adopting a fighting stance. "But that will come."

"Well you never really meet a knight until you do so in the lists, so you consider me checked off after we break a few lances," he replied, with a wry smile beneath his great-helm as he attacked. "Ser Garrett tells me you are a talented lance, no minor praise coming form him."

(I believe it's the same as a regular fight, except we go to first heavy hit instead of deathblow. No hit. Willem takes a -5 penalty next round for being out of Stamina.)
Geralt likewise caught the counterattack on his shield and the two traded a flurry of blows with no hits landed, though it seemed the Lannister heir was tiring far faster than the Gardener knight.

Willem smiled under his helmet. He fought down the overwhelming urge to throw away his shield and take on the Gardener prince with two swords. However he continued to trade blows in the conventional manner. EaIPJ0_|

As the Lannister prince begins to slow, the still fresh Gardener prince gets under his guard and smacks him in the thigh with his blunted blade.
(Willem takes a Light Hit for 5 damage (-2.5 penalty). He takes an additional -5 for lack of stamina, so will roll next round at -12.5)

Willem was getting tired now, his arm beginning to ache from exertion, but he was nothing if not determined. Who better to train against, than one of the most promising young knights of their generation. He continued to fight conventionally, moving around to keep the Gardener prince guessing as to his next move.

Geralt lets Willem continue moving about, attempting to wear down the westerner, looking for an opening in his guard.

Willem was no stranger to the realities of combat and was quickly realising that the Gardener prince's endurance was superior to his own. Fighting conventionally with sword and shield was unlikely to end in victory. He pressed on, taking the opportuniity studying the fighting patterns of the knight opposing him. No doubt there would be further contests where they would meet, so he felt it was worth the effort.

Geralt feigned a strike low, forcing Willem to drop his guard, before bringing his blade high faster than the exhausted heir could raise his shield back up, landing a glancing blow to his helm.
(Willem takes another Light Wound for -5 damage (-2.5 penalty. He takes an additional -5 for lack of stamina, for a total of -25)
