The pair glide fairly effortlessly across the floor. The Ironborn captain clearly has studied this before. "Everyone is familiar with it," he said. "The true warrior/gentleman is nearly as rare as true love or real heroes," he said. "The Ironborn value strength and its ability to win freedom. Manners such as these serve only to keep the old ways continuing," he claimed, "although the benefits at times cannot be denied. Why did you come sit with my men?" He asked her. "To see if they'd harass you in full view of all the kingdoms? Or is here something else you crave?" "Ah yes, acting gentlemanly so you can continue to reave and raid, is that it? When suspected you can simply point to your record of good manners and polite conversation. It's genius!" She laughed and let him twirl her before moving back in a little tighter, her body pressed gently against his. "Do you think I crave to be abducted and taken to one of your islands, to become a saltwife?" She smirked suggestively. "No, I have grown up around far too much wealth to be able to abide such a life. Though I do like getting to know other cultures. Perhaps that is why I sat among your men."

"I reave and raid as I see fit," he said, "and I act gentlemanly as I see fit. I make no excuses. If I take something the owner was too weak to claim it. I wouldn't take you, though," he said, his lips against her ear. "More trouble than it'd be worth for one girl. Even one like you."

"What are you..." Reynard turned surprised by the kid's attempt on his pocket. He was shocked, his face pale in horror, that the Ironborn could allow these things to happen during such a Feast. Once again he was reminded that he was dealing with barbarians and raiders, not proper Lords as those of the West.
He tried to defend himself from the incoming kick.

Reynard was not a person to easily get angered, for everything he would try to keep calm and deal with the situation with reason. But one thing took him out of his tranquil persona, an attempt against what was his. They had tried to take Silverhill from him, they had tried to take the heart of his love from him... He hated the idea of one taking that which wasn't rightfully his to own, thus his certain mistrust towards the Ironborn in first place.
"Excuse me, ma'am. I'll be back when I deal with this urchin." He said apologetically to Lady Varena.
"Thief! Someone grab him." He called out, hoping to get the attention of other guests, as he tried to give chase after the kid.

Reynard: 64 Jason: 85 Donny: 75
The little urchin scrambles, but the big Lannister knight is faster and knows he'll need to exit via the main door, so he rushes to cut him off from it, shouting thief the entire time. Some guards notice and begin giving chase as well; thievery in a party of nobles is for once taken seriously. Naomi and the gamblers see him running, and Torrhen laughed. "Off with his head!"

Reynard had never been very fast, his fighting usually depended on his stamina and skill. He also had the serious politeness problem, he couldn't force himself to shove people out of the way, so he tried his best not to disturb and always apologize the guests he had to pass by.

Post by King Perceon IV Gardener on Aug 11, 2017 17:43:34 GMT
"Florys!" Perceon exclaimed, a slight rose tint to his cheeks, the largely empty glass in his hand being his third or fourth drink in the 40 minutes or so he had been seated. He thought it was his third but he wasnt sure if he had lost track of one when he was in conversation with Melissa and Theon. "I have neglected you whilst we have been here. I do hope you will forgive me. I forgive you for making me look a pauper in comparison to how you have dressed for the evening. But enough of my blathering, I'm sure you'd sooner dance. Fear not, I shall keep your friend safe, even if it means I have to call Geralt to her aid." Perceon clearly though what he was saying rather amusing, as he grinned at his cousin when he finished his speech. He didn't linger in self indulgence long however, remembering he had been tasked with entertaining the Targaryen. He smiled at Rhaena, not so drunk he wasn't suspicious she might speak his tongue better than she was letting on, and opted to speak to her as the adult she was, keeping the hand gestures to a minimum. "I am delighted to make your acquaintance, Princess." He informed her, smiling happily. "I must confess I am thrilled to finally meet a Targaryen. Your family's reputation for greatness precedes you, as I'm sure you've heard many times. Would I be boring you too much to ask of your dragons?" "Is it greatness we are known for?" She asked in simple but apparently fluent Westerosi, only a few pauses to ensure her diction was correct. "I have heard madness is more our calling card," she smiled politely, apparently joking. "I know of House Gardener," she added, "tales of knights and ships and the kingdom where the sun finally rests for the day." he probably could have waited more than fifteen seconds before asking about the dragons, but she is used to the prattle and too professional to show any sign of offense. "What would you ask of them?" She replied. Perceon smiled at her comment about madness. "You do not seem mad to me, so one can only conclude that as woman of Targaryen blood that you must be great. And I am not so rude as to point out your less well esteemed ancestors, for then you could simply respond by pointing out my own. Our families are both ancient enough that an impeccable record is impossible. We have plenty of knights in the Reach, and our share of ships too. You are right about that, although I'd wager it's Dorne that the sun favours over my lands. Not that I would complain about that. Too much sun is not good for crops, especially important ones like grapes. If you should like to see house Gardener's lands, you are welcome to visit us any time you please, we would be delighted to host you." Moving on to the topic of dragons, Perceon near salivated at the chance to pick her brains, although he did his best to keep his spit in his mouth so as to not appear a complete fool. "I have head much of the dragons in tales, although no doubt things eventually become exaggerated. To what length does a common dragon grow? And when you ride them, do you feel the heat through their scales when they breathe fire?"

"What would see if I visited House Gardener's lands?" She asked. "This Order of the Green Men? Knights wear green armor?" She asked, apparently curious. Talking of dragons is already annoying her, visibly, but she answers because she is a princess and it is polite. "There is no common dragon," she said. "They never stop growing, so they can get as big as nature wills it. We have one that is six foot and one that is the size of this chamber when it spreads it wings," she said. "I'e never ridden one when it breathes fire; no one has dared challenge our dragons in open battle in fifty years."

"I'm afraid I don't know anything about architecture," Melissa admitted. "But this castle is very impressive, and I can certainly appreciate its stature and its grandness. I do like history though, especially where there are adventures and battles. I wasn't interested when my maester tried to make me learn the dates of all the kings of the Reach but their deeds were a different matter. I loved learning about the great deeds the kings and their champions performed in battl, the quests they went upon. Even, occasionally, the maidens they rescued. I was even lucky enough to hear a few tales of heroic ladies. I can only hope to emulate those heroines, one day."

"Ahh..." He grinned. "Well, let's see." Theon looked around the great hall, before he found a statue of a woman in a small creche.
"That was Lorraine Vance, the favorite salt wife of a Hoare prince named Victarion. Lorraine was a warrior too, and caught the eye of Victarion when he laid siege to Atranta during her father's revolt. She put two arrows in the prince, and killed two of his bodyguards with her daggers. But Victarion survived, and she nursed him herself. Eventually, as a prisoner of war and his gaoler, they fell in love. So she helped him escape, and eventually they wed. Some cynical Riverlords will tell you she was a daft woman seduced by a rogue but... He made her his wife and ordered the statue made when she died many years later. I would like to imagine you two would have gotten along."

"Probably," Melissa laughed. "For the record though, I've no desire to become a salt wife." She looked over at the statue of the lady. "She's pretty. As pretty as stone can ever be, anyway. Is it possible that House Hoare's prosperity could be directly related to Lorraine's deeds?"

|
Post by King Theon IV Hoare on Aug 11, 2017 18:47:55 GMT
Theon nodded. "Undoubtedly. Her father surrendered afterwards because his favorite daughter was now a hostage. The revolt would have gone on otherwise, and more men and women would have died. House Vance is an old and proud family, you see. But thanks to Lorraine, those people survived along with House Vance itself."

Willem's own eyes followed her gaze. "I had no doubt that your husband would enter. So yes, our meeting is a distinct possibility. You may look forward to seeing me in action, but I also have no doubt you will be praying for my defeat if I meet your husband in the lists." His face broke into a wry smile. "But I would expect nothing less from a loyal wife. Particularly one who is so recently married." "Perhaps not so far as praying, I am less interested in who wins the tournament than you might think. It hardly changes anything does it? Will just make one of you men king for a day a little prematurely." She smiled and looked at him, "I am sure he will do well enough wearing my favour though"
