The Faith Militant:
Composed of the poorest of the poor as well as men of all walks of life, the Faith's army acts as law enforcers near sects across the realms. Bolstered by times and gifts from the landed men who join their ranks, they could form powerful armies if combined, but their separation and the suspicion of kings keeps their potential suppressed.
Approximate numbers: 15,000* (poor fellows), 2000 (Warrior's Sons) (*low estimate based on septs' records in the more populated regions of Westeros)
Headquarters: The Starry Sept, Oldtown
Leader: The High Septon
Battle Commander: Ser Barron, formerly of House Brax
The Dragons' Tails:
A mercenary company made up of those who fled the Targaryens' wrath in Essos, the Dragons' Tails wander from kingdom to kingdom as contracts permit, and after thirty years are more Westerosi than foreigner. They are considered the most reliable of the various companies and have fought in most major wars in the last quarter century. They suppressed the Riverlands revolt of House Mooton and were gifted a small port town on Crackclaw Point as a headquarters in reward.
Approximate numbers: 500-1000 permanent mercenaries, 2,000 men they call up for specific contracts.
Leaders: Green Gerry Sunderland, Simple Jaymes, Olyvier Nestoris
The Steel Mermaids
A pirate/mercenary group formed entirely of women who have left the strict confines of Westerosi life or fled abusive marriages. The Steel Mermaids are brutal in battle and scandalous by nature, but for every woman arrested or harassed for being among them five more sign up.
Numbers: Six ships, about 800 women
Leader: Proud Bella Ryswell, Eleyna Estermont
