Background: The hand that sculpted Daeron Blacktyde was neither kind nor gentle, and the man that formed from it bore more in appearance to a pile of stone than a human being. Tall, bulky, and favoring a diet of iron and trees, Lord Daeron ascended to his title when his elder brother, Baldric, died from a wound while raiding. Being born a giant amongst the Ironborn was certainly an advantage to young Daeron as he grew up, as his sparring partners quickly became twice or three times his age to ensure a proper challenge. When he reached adulthood, one partner became two, and then three, as he rampaged across the training circle like a bull. Word began to spread through the Land of Iron that House Blacktyde hosted one of the finest warriors in the kingdoms, and the Ironborn had no shortage of warriors willing to test him. Years passed as he continued to train, and the challenging mercenaries, soldiers, and captains all began paying the Iron Price as Daeron's reign continued. Defeat finally came when a scrawny lad from the conquered Riverlands came to battle him. Those gathered sought a quick end as Daeron charged, but the battle turned into a forty minute display of Daeron chasing the small man, who constantly ran from him, poking back with his spear. Although no blow ever struck true, Daeron collapsed just the same at the end, exhausted and unable to fight. While his fellow Ironborn bellowed in outrage at the farce the other man had played, Daeron offered him a chance to stay and train with him. The man demanded a spot in his retinue as his Iron Price, and during the following years turned Daeron from a skilled fighter to one of the best known. It was during this time that Daeron's mother wed a new man, uniting Daeron with Mychel Mallister. The two quickly shared an interest in killing things and spent several busy raiding seasons together. The duo is now likely the most deadly in the land of Iron, and are known to accidentally stumble into quite a few fights.
