An intimating section of the Mountain Road where the pass narrows into a death trap, with the very walls of the mountain carved to include a walkway and parapets onto the trail. At the end lays two watchtowers overlooking the pass on both ends connected by a covered arched bridge. Between the two towers lay the gate itself, a sturdy mass of wood and iron with an oak branded iron portcullis lowered against any attackers.

Tytos and the western part of the King's armies have set up shop at the Bloody Gate while the eastern forces went to deal with Gulltown.

March 22nd, 200
Lord Erik Hoare and six thousand heavily armed men arrive at the Gate, readying for the conquest of the Vale. The tall general looked to The leaders of the gate, and he saluted them. "Well done," he said. "That Gate could have held us back for months."

"As promised, cousin." Shay stroked his moustaches as he admired the view from inside the Bloody Gate. "Such a lovely vista. Maybe I'll move here after the war."

"It'll get fucking cold soon enough," Erik promised. "And then the wildlings'll fuck you in your sleep, but hell it can't be that bad," he said as an afterthought. "You did good work here. But this is just the start. The Vale lords got twenty thousand men they could bring against us, so we got to split that down."

"Aye... We need to rally the Queen's men. Get them to turn on the pissant in the Eyrie. The wildlings probably hate Artos more than Her Majesty does, so we can work something out with them. Add in Blacktyde's men coming in from the east... Nice little game of dominoes..."

Erik nodded. "Indeed. Give the wild ones some traitor's land and the. Squish then. I like it."

"Aye..." He frowned. "Just wish we had Vance or the King himself for the smooth talking."

"They won't want any of that shit," Erik said. "The wildlings owill think eloquence is bullshit. We show them skulls and steel and we have a better chance. We need to move east and kill someone to impress them."

Vale men from all over, hearing of gold to be ha, had volunteered to take the armies east on different routes. Erik chose three. "Shay, you're with the scouts," he said. "Make sure that old fruit's outriders don't see us until we're ready for battle. Get Tytos and anyone good with a bow to go with you. If you see those wild ones, see if they'll help us, if not we can slaughter them too, and gain favor with neutral houses."

Shay nods solemnly, "By your will."
He readies his horse, and mounts the animal. Before setting off into the Vale, he cries out to the assembled forces, "What is dead may never die!"
Shay had never seen the islands, but he was a true believer all the same. Not as zealous as some of the nutters in the homeland, but a man could drown just as easily in a river.

Tytos readies up his mount, still feeling a little sluggish behind the reigns. He wonders at the call about being dead and chuckles at the morbid thoughts that these westerners have.

THey begin the march, the hundred scouts spreading out and picking places to go to, mountain or road or goat trail. The weather is chilly at night but warm in the days and visibility is high even in the mountains.

Shay, well aware of how expensive war is, keeps his eye out for the Eyrie itself. The maps say its not far from the Bloody Gate, but clearly there were no straight lines in the Vale. Weary of traps, he keeps his eye out.

The Eyrie is supported by several smaller forts below it, each needing to be taken in turn before any chance at assaulting the main castle could even be attempted. It sits four thousand feet up a mountain, making any traditional assault near impossible. Starving the Arryn's out and crushing their armies is the only real way to win the war.

"If I was any sort of climber I would suggest we send men up the sides of the mountain to take the way castles. Once we get the closest one we send them to the next one up the mountain and so on." HE says looking at the mountains themselves. "If we are on any sort of a time schedule we could start sending groups of our best climbers up from the other side of the mountain, to try and flank Eyrie proper. As long as they are able to reach the summit of the Giant's Lance then they should be able to drop directly into the castle itself I would imagine." Tytos finishes up.

"Hmm... That's the most insane fucking plan I've heard since I bagged my second wife..." He stroked his chin, tapped his fingers on his blade, scratched his chin again, and then finally said, "I can't climb for shit... So I'll have to stay out here with the other fatasses. But we can provide a distraction for you, or charge the gate if you manage to open it." He started asking around for the best climbers.

Shay has a dozen Arryn uniforms collected from the ambush, and dresses the infiltrators up as though a pimp sending his whores to collect their due.
"Remember, Tytos... His Grace only gave orders to kill the old man. He never said anything about the kid. But if you get him in your sights, and you find you got the stomach for it..." The captain twitched a little as he gave the order and gripped his scabbard tight. "Make it quick."

"If tales are true isn't there a door with a spectacular view in that castle? I might be of a mind to have them take one last look at it." Tytos says preparing his own sack for the climb.
