Damon nodded. "Maybe that's what it is," he agreed. "So then," he waved her to a seat, "are you always so clumsy? I might have to help you out of this feast later to ensure you don't fall off this blasted tower." She slid into a seat next to him and called for wine as a servant passed. "Oh, yes please. Your assistance would be very welcome, ser. I am not usually clumsy but it's not every day you get to go to a king's wedding, is it? This is certainly my first. And I have never encountered so many people from the Stormlands, either. Mostly we see the same people here in Oldtown, except for the merchants."

"He has minders?" Percy said, amused. "He looks a man grown from here. He must be trouble indeed." He watched his cousin embarrassing herself shamelessly. "She's my cousin." He said after a moment of thought. "But she is not trueborn, I'm sure if worst came to worst an arrangement could be made that didn't involve marriage." "He makes his own little cadre of basebornss," Kyle said dismissively, "but I'll make sure he avoids that one. Blood and legitimacy aren't necessarily related, and I'd not let him insult your family so."

He asked, "a shame, I've been to Highgarden, beautiful place." He looked at her sipping her wine. "So what do you do for fun here?" He asked casually, as a nearby knight shook his head in frustration.

He asked casually, as a nearby knight shook his head in frustration. "Oh. We dance and talk, and drink. I like shopping for new clothes, too. I like to design my gowns myself before going to the seamstresses. I go to Highgarden sometimes but Oldtown is my home. It's where my mother and father live. I go to watch the knights practising sometimes and tha'ts fun too, when they fight well. And sometimes when they don't. It was very funny when my brother fell off his horse last week when the quintain hit him. Jason was mortified, of course. He thinks falling off is beneath his dignity now he's a knight."

Kyle nodded and was silent a moment. "It will be good to be allies," he said, "we have plenty to be wary of, but now so do all our rivals."
///
Damon frowned. "No knight should be getting knocked off his horse...unless he was drunk," he allowed. "But I suppose it happens. I just blame my squire," he laughed. "Did you design this dress?" He indicated her gown.

"Especially then," Kyle agreed. "Because that can make them act desperate and irrational." He watched the ladies about. "Do you have a master for trading and the like?" He asked. "I'm always curious how other kingdoms are structured for decision making."

Perceon shook his head. "I will consult with individuals as appropriate in their respective areas of expertise, but I have yet to create many formal positions. It seems likely to be a way to create jealously and envy among unchosen lords, in return for a benefit of consultation that I could get freely. How is it you structure things in the Stormlands?"

"My father has four main advisers," he said. "Hubert Storm is our master of gold, Lord Emmitt our Lord of Battle, Sara Meadows our shadow mistress, and Edward Fell is our Lord of the Sea."

"Interesting." Perceon commented. "Do you find that other lords covet positions they are not chosen for, or is that less of a problem than I think?"

The lord nodded and bowed lightly. "A vision of loveliness, You're grace, my nephew is a most lucky man in so many ways." Bethan smiled at him and nodded in agreement. "And Lady Alyssa can exaggerate at times when not talking about herself. She is quite modest for herself but eager to make friends seem far brighter." Alyssa waved him off with a playful swat that did not go anywhere near him, "with friends like you, my lord, it takes no effort to show your brightness. Queen Bethan expressed a desire to get to know some of the Reaches Lords, and thought it best to get her acquainted with where my finest wines come from, by far the most important part if any party." She smiled at the Lord, "Lord Garlan is also your new uncle, but I'm sure you knew that,"

"Let them covet," Kyle said, "it keeps them seeking your favor instead of growing overly independent. It also gives second sons something to do other than wait for their brothers to die before being useful. Only Lord Emmett owns his own lands so it gives the families more ways to compete with each other. If they're competing with each other they aren't plotting rebellion," he laughed.

"So nice to meet you Lord Garlan. I do hope to see your home one day. Even at Storm's End the Arbor is legendary." Garlan nodded. "A beautiful wedding, Your Grace," he said. "I hope that this meets your expectations," he added. Alyssa could see most of the guests seemed happy, some of the Reachmen and Storm lords not as pleased as the others, but overall it seems a large success.

He indicated her gown. "Oh yes! My seamstress says I have a good eye for designing my own clothes. And I sewed the embroidery onto my girdle myself." She indicated the cloth girdle she wore around her waist, with its delicate embroidered pattern. "Mother says I'm much better at sewing than she was at my age, but I've had better tutors." She made the statement with simple pride. "Do you have good seamstresses and tailors in the Stormlands, ser?"

"She didn't marry Storm's End," Kyle said, "I am sure she'll find Highgarden quite to her liking. She hates rain anyway." He looked about a bit longer, as Perceon heard some of his drunken retainers singing songs ordinarily not sung at feasts, albeit funny.
//
See Damon observed her handiwork and nodded. "You do have a talent," he agreed. "I feel like my tailors did as they needed to," he said, "and I live quite near the Reach so now and then I import from Highgarden or wherever I see a need to." He rubbed his jaw as he took a drink. "Where is your favorite place in Oldtown?" He asked.

Lord Laurence somehow convinces Lady Clarissa Rowan and Betriz Dondarrion that he is their future husband, despite having a name that sounds suspiciously made up even by Westerosi standards. Clarissa Rowan is the youngest daughter of the elder lord of Goldengrove, pretty but not beautiful and she giggles at Laurence's strange manner of speaking. Betriz Dondarrion, meanwhile, is a cousin to the lord of Blackhaven, half-Dornish, skin like a lily, hair black as night. She is clearly far more dangerous, finding the lord's japes amusing, Laurence attracting the angered attention of higher ranking men as they seek the temptress' favor. +2 Charm

I suppose...my favourite places are Sybell's - that's my seamstress' establishment - and the Seven Shrines. I love the Starry Sept too, but the gardens at the Seven Shrines are so beautiful! I love to go and pick flowers with my friends and see which knights are visiting."

Percy was not yet irritated or embarrassed by the songs, figuring they were doing more to lighten the mood than offend anyone, so he let them go.
"I am glad something I have little control over has resolved in my favour then." He commented about the rain. He looked to Kyle. "You are welcome to visit us, of course, should it please you."

He asked, "come to pay his respects to the gardens," he smirked. "Sybell seems to know her craft quite well. How has a lady such as yourself dodged suitors for so long?"

But I'm quite glad of it, because I haven't met a man I liked well enough to marry, yet. My time will come. But I don't think I want to tell you which of the Reach knights are the most handsome. Men don't understand such things, unless they are the object of a lady's affections."

"It's always a legitimate concern anyway," he said, "but not in this instance." Percy hears the call for the bedding start, whether because they want to see Bethan naked, or maybe the men and ladies want to act in a manner not appropriate for the king to see; the gambling has started and that usually leads to silliness.

I think you are toying with me and I am quite tired of such things."

Ser Damon shrugged. "Just a game," he said airily. "I believe you opened up this conversation by pretending to fall upon me," he noted, "I had thought this was a game." He filled up his drink and a few knights seemed relieved. "why would I care what men you find handsome?"
