March 17th, Year 200.
The great port of Gulltown has had weeks in theory to prepare for a possible attack, the Ironborn strength in the Blackwater is not great and the lord Grafton is ensconced in a dungeon in Harrenhal. His son is a loyal servant to Queen Miriam, and as such even suspecting only a few thousand men the local lords of the Vale have had to grease many palms to defend the city, marrying daughters and nieces and sons of House Grafton in exchange for permission to raise a small army to keep King Artos's reign secure.
The first sign that this plan is not going swimmingly arrives quietly at seven in the morning, perhaps an hour after dawn. Black warships, dozens of them, sail towards the eastern part of the harbor, the place where the mostly deserted warships sit, undermanned and underfunded. The presence of the banners of House Targaryen is shocking to almost all the defenders as they settle in for an unexpected enemy, their troubles made all the worse when Lord Daeron's Blackwater fleet arrives an hour and a half later, sailing for the west port.
Just over ten thousand men are set to sack the city, the defenders about three thousand dependable troops and almost as many who cannot be counted on, save perhaps to turn sides and assault their fellows when the battle goes poorly. Flaming balls of pitch begin the violence, as the Targaryen ships dock two thousand men on the Long Beach east of the city, splitting the defenders' attention even more...

Lord Daeron Blacktyde sails with fire and fury for the coast, the Blacktyde fleet burning everything along the way not flying Targaryen colors. Daeron's flagship is in the lead, and he's the first on shore to kill everything.

The West:
Giles Rosby: 154/111 Daeron Blacktyde: 94
Ser Desmond Templeton: 122/155
The ironborn are too many as they dock, the defenders too few and too divided. Dozens die in the opening salvos, many Ironborn falling to arrows as they disembark, but many many more swarming the western docks. Sailors and whores fleeing the carnage make it difficult to coordinate a proper defense, but the Knight of ninestars does the best he can, his best men pushing back hard to try burning some ships, torches landing on two galleys. The defenders are outnumbered three to one, and two of them is falling for every assailant.
Ironborn: 4800 men Vale loyalists: 1200 men

Round 2:
Giles: 141/102 Daeron: 178
Desmond: 121/73
The Vale forces face collapse but a lost second charge of their best men nearly blunts the Ironborn charge. Lord Blacktyde refuses to allow his momentum to cease as his eastern compatriots begin to waver, and he kills two men and finds Ser Desmond in the fray. The aging knight attacks him viciously but the huge barbarian knocks his sword aside and his axe buries itself in the landed knight's skull, sending brain matter spraying, and demoralizing the remaining forces, who break and flee west towards their remaining friendly lords.
Looking to the east, the foreign army has taken the eastern gate and they pour into the city as the garrison sees the battle is lost. Daeron's men take two hundred prisoners worth a ransom, including Ser Dexter Templeton, the new Knight of Ninestars.

Lord Daeron gathers the sword of the knight he slew and orders his body to be gathered, then moves to the city to find Ser Dexter. Most of the brain and blood is wiped off of his armor along the way, but only most. He has the man chained and brought before him, leaving his forces to gather their strength again after a struggled battle. "I hope you fought well. A man should die with honor."

Ser Dexter looks up at the towering man. "Sent two of your men to hell where they belong," he said, apparently not bothering to protest his execution after surrender. "Long reign the king!" He spat.

Daeron smiles down at the man as he motions to the guards. "You'll spend your days on Blacktyde, as a thrall, until you decide the Queen should pay for your return. Your king's reign will not be as pleasant."

The guards haul him off. The city is mostly undefended now, dragon soldiers linking up with his eastern flank. Lord Aegor can be seen even from a distance in his red armor, apparently not having had the need to even enter the fighting. He removes his helmet and seems disappointed at the poor resistance, but his money has been made easily enough. The knight Giles Rosby looks to his naval commander. "The city is ours," he said. "Supposedly Royce is on the way to reinforce us so we can crush the remaining Vale lords."

Robert Vance is no stranger to battle, but he doesn't look particularly threatening in his adorned platemail. "Lord Targaryen! A pleasure doing business!! I understand His Grace gave you a copy of the decree concerning Pentoshi goods, but he has made several copies with seal attached, as a sign of his commitment to your friendship!"

"Take what we need to restock and tend to the wounded while we wait. Secure the fleet here until we know if he needs us, but keep the ships manned. If there's a better opportunity, we take it. Every ship moored here gives their cargo to us, as well." Daeron returns to his ship, smearing the last of the residue from his armor.

(Daeron's army received 25 gold, 15 food)
The men pillagebefficiently and behave themselves for now. Rape and destruction will come later in the campaign.
Lord Aegor nodded to the old riverlands lord. "A good bout,@ he said, "our tactics were superior and our numbers overwhelming, as I prefer it. Our agreement holds. My men are staying a few days to recover and then we will consider ourselves relieved."

"That is what the paper says," he agreed with a smile, clapping the man on the back. "Good luck in the battles to come, Lord Vance. I sense much profit in our future, and I trust that the Vale shall bow to its rightful monarchs soon," he added. He looked about, "now, this wasn't too destructive, and I fancy finding a drink," he said.
