Hairball was a dwarf long before he was a king's fool. He had apprenticed to a traveling troupe of performers before catching the eye of the then prince with his various tricks and quirks. No one remembered his true name, except the King. It was apparently a private joke between the two men. Today, he was singing His Grace a song about a scorpion that had lost his sting and tries to live as a spider instead. There were many deep interpretations of the song, but it's main appeal was the quick patter of the lyrics as they list the scorpion's various failures to adapt. Singing 50 |vYVhCjL

It is possible the goofy jester tried a bit too hard with that pun, but it gets the real desired reaction of any pun; groans of agony from any around. "Tomorrow does seem more likely," the king said. "That joke is older than the dirt between your toes," he added. "Looks like Casterly Rock will need a new fool soon."
