"Of course." Perceon nodded. "This is not so urgent he need not be given time to tend to his appearance. Perhaps I can ask you my question as well, do you know if any Fells traveled with you to Harrenhal?" "One," she said, "Gawain Fell, he is petitioning King Harmund for the return of his sister," she added. "The talks are promising, thank the gods." She narrowed her eyes. "Why?"

Breathing heavily, Willem looked after the unknown knight who had finally bested him. He said nothing as the man stalked off and wondered if he would be competing in the upcoming joust. He turned to Geralt smiling. "Close, but not close enough. For both of us. You fought well as always." He looked again after the mystery knight. "Would be a good idea to keep an eye on him." "I shudder to think of the numbers of men who will make false claims to be the Knight of Fallen Leaves this evening in hopes of free drinks at the taverns or free tricks at the brothels," Geralt remarked, as he watched the curious mystery knight go. "We had best hope he competes in the lists, as it seems the only way our curiosity will be sated is by unhorsing him."

Willem nodded in agreement. "If he is as good on a horse as he is on foot, then that may be an difficult task. One can only imagine the reasons he would want to remain incognito if he were to win the joust as well. One of us will have to ensure that he doesn't."

"I should wait until your brother joins us." Perceon replied. "He needs to be privy to what I have to say." He glanced about. "And it would be best if we found a more private forum to speak when he does."

"We should place a wager on it then," Geralt suggested, with a cocksure grin. "A tankard of ale to the man who unhorses him if he finds his way to the lists."

"I'll match that tankard and raise you a barrel of ale to the man who unhorses him." said Willem emphatically. He grinned in turn and quipped. "A Lannister does not deal in trifles."

Arianna laughed. "Well of course," she said, "we smell better too," she joked. "Eighty handsome men fighting for our favor and the winner won't even show his face. I bet he's handsome," she declared. Sarissa just shook her head. "I'm so glad you get along so well with my mother," she said. "I've heard rumors the res of your family isn't so open minded towards us." "That' true, unfortunately," Melissa admitted. "But I always did have odd ideas, as far as my family is concerned. And you know, our kingdoms have often been at war, so it's not surprising. A shame, though." She glanced down at the field. "What if the victor is not handsome? What if he's so ugly he's afraid to show his face in public. Or...." A delightful idea occurred to her and she mentally hugged the idea before speaking. "What if he's not a he after after. What if the victor is a member of the Steel Mermaids and chooses to go incognito to avoid the scorn of those who dislike her band? After recent events, that would be the wisest thing any Mermaid could do, if she were determined to compete."

The ladies and lords began dispersing to go party and recant the day's events as they would for years to come. // Sarissa laughed at that. "I think she'd be a rather large woman but the thought alone is killing me," she said with a twinkle in her eye. "More likely he is just ugly. Pretty men would have taken the helmet off for all the ladies who'd want to be with him."

Perhaps he has a bad reputation and fears to be known because of that. Or maybe he doesn't want to be famous. But it hardly matters now. Whoever he is, he has won the prize purse and we have enjoyed the spectacle. I'm intrigued, of course, but not so much that I will go to the effort of trying to find out who he truly is."

"A barrel it is," Geralt replied, with a laugh, offering a gauntleted hand to seal the accord. "All the better, as unhorsing that many knights will be thirsty work."
